I am a big fan of movies; especially HD movies form my PS3 Blu-ray drive. I was glad when Blu-ray won out over HD DVD, not so much because I liked Blu-ray better, I was simply glad to see one format win despite the fact that I am now stuck with a worthless HD DVD player.
Now that Blu-ray is the standard, we are starting to see players with some cool features show up. LG announced an interesting player called the LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player. The BD300 does everything you expect a Blu-ray player to do like play full 1080p resolution Blu-ray movies, upscale standard DVDs to 1080p, and it supports BD Live.
LG also adds its LG SimpLink technology for easier control of compatible LG devices. The coolest feature of the BD300 is that it is the first Blu-ray player that can stream Netflix films over the Internet to your HDTV. Netflix subscribers can stream over 12,000 TV shows and movies from the Netflix Instant Queue library. Pricing and shipping information for the BD300 is unknown at this time.

The guys over at Sony Ericsson are to launch more accessories in the future according to semcblog, and I guess they should know. Not surprisingly most of these Sony Ericsson accessories are designed for none other than the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 superphone.
Apparently because of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1?s specs and status they feel the mobile handset deserves special attention, and thus has come up with these accessories.

Here is what Sony Ericsson has come up with? IPC-50 ? A splash proof case for outdoor activities, CLA-70 – Cigarette Lighter Adapter for J132 and X1, ISP-90 – Stylus Pack for X1, DMU-70 – Mini-USB Cable for J132 and X1, CMU-20 – Mini-USB Charger for J132 and X1, and the BST-41 – Standard Battery for X1.

Here’s a clever alternative to having an annoying videographer (or more likely, your cousin with his camcorder) wandering around your wedding reception, randomly recording greetings and good wishes from your friends and family. You simply set up one of these Memorytube Wedding Kiosks in a corner of the reception hall which allows your guests to leave a message or greeting at their leisure, without the pressure of having a camera stuck in their faces. The kiosk features a touch-screen LCD display with a pop-up keyboard allowing users to sign a virtual guestbook, but also includes a built-in camera allowing them to leave a more personal video message. It even includes a memory card reader allowing those with a digital camera to upload all of their photos at the end of the evening, or wirelessly transfer them from a bluetooth equipped cameraphone.
The setup of the Memorytube kiosk and processing of the images, videos and messages afterwards is all done by the company who will provide you with a professionally edited DVD when it’s all said and done. The kiosk itself can also be customized with a front laminate graphic, and they’ll even provide coasters and flyers to let your guests know the kiosk is available and where to find it. From what I can tell the Memorytube is only available for rent in the UK at this time, and the base price is about $590.

Are you one of the super rich and fancy having your own Bling iPhone? A unique way to mark the spirit of the Olympic Games, whose ethos is inclusion, is to bring out a mobile handset that virtually most ordinary folk can?t afford.
Bornrich.org aptly reports that diamond jewellers, De Vere of London has unveiled an 88 diamond studded Olympic iPhone to commemorate the event.

Folk law has it that 88 is considered lucky amongst the Chinese and that 8 stands for wealth, so double 8 stands for double wealth, thus De Veve has blinged the Apple iPhone 3G with 88 shining diamonds.

This particular filthy-rich iPhone 3G holds a weighty price tag of ?gasp? £4148, that?s roughly $8224, and one I personally won?t be purchasing as I?m sure most of you won?t.

There are a handful of watches that combine a digital LED display with an analog watch face which makes it easier for those of us who suck at telling time the ‘old-fashioned’ way, but this new Tough Movement system from Casio actually relies on an LED ‘under-the-hood’ to keep the positions of the analog hands accurate. The watch receives time calibration signals from six different bases located around the world, and at the 55 minute mark of every hour if the time indicated by the watch doesn’t match up with the time from the signals, the position of the hands is automatically corrected. The gears for the second, minute and hour hands are actually sandwiched between an LED and a phototransistor which also allows the watch to detect the positions of all three gears at once by shining a light through a series of holes that are just 300 mum in diameter.
The new Tough Movement also incorporates metal and plastic parts in order to reduce the weight and size of the watch while increasing rigidity and shock-resistance. As a result the thickness of a 3-hand analog model is reduced by 2.26mm to 4.11mm, while the more complex chronograph model is reduced by 0.55mm to 4.9mm. The new Tough Movement system will apparently be incorporated into Casio’s Oceanus and G-Shock series watches, and the first model to feature it (the GS-1200) will be available at the end of September in Japan for about $388.

Development shop Proximi is apparently shout loud and clear so everyone will hear about their MagicPad application for the Apple iPhone according to a report on MacRumors.
Proximi are touting the MagicPad?s ability to copy and paste function as part of a rich text editing package to help hold up the handset?s weak, virtually non-existent office app suite.
MagicPad looks nice it looks well executed and will provide a core function, which should have been with the Apple iPhone from the outset. The only problem is, what is the point of cut and paste clipboard if only one application can use it?

According to a statement released ahead of Garmin?s 2nd quarter earnings call, the company reckons it will delay the release of their Nuvifone until the first half of 2009.
The press release states, “The nuvifone will not be available in fourth quarter as previously announced. While we had hoped to have carrier launches in the fourth quarter, we have found that meeting some of the carrier specific requirements will take longer than anticipated. We remain pleased with carrier interest in the device and are working toward making necessary design changes to meet their requirements. We anticipate launching the product during the first half of 2009.”

Probably one of two things has happened here, firstly either the Samsung Access has been a great seller for AT&T resulting in AT&T requesting an almost clone type from rival LG, or LG has seen the Samsung Access and figured it they would provide a clone type all by themselves, according to engadget mobile.
Whatever, we are hearing whispers that the CB630 Invision is going to the AT&T Mobile TV a tad late as the word going round is the Samsung Access is already scheduled for that official sunset on 24th of August.
Word is also reaching the same sunset is the Sony Ericsson Z750, the Mobile TV less version of the LG Vu the CU915, and the Samsung SLM.
