The word is Samsung and Sprint was receiving quite a few threats from irate Instinct owners to put out a firmware update to show that they actually cared and before the thirty-day test period was out, or deal with RMA paperwork.

Well according to an engadget report, as slow as they are the first update is coming ten days after the end test date, and apparently first reports are suggesting that there are still problems.

The word is some Instinct users are suggesting Sprint TV is less pixelated than previous and that the overall snappiness has improved somewhat, however it appears that the patently bad browser still remains at 1.0, so just as bad.

So that?s it apparently, the only thing to get Samsung Instinct owners jazzed up is the battery meter hits 100% rather than 90%, and if that?s it then something is seriously wrong.

Mark/Space has released the finalised version of their Missing Sync for Symbian. A report on Tuaw states the Missing Sync for Symbian is designed to sync Mac apps to Symbian S60 and UIQ smartphones.

So Mac lovers out there in Symbian land, you can now sync those Mac apps with the likes of Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia based S60 and UIQ mobile handsets.

The finailised version of Mark/Space?s Missing Sync for Symbian also includes a swanky Proximity Syncing feature, which enables the users mobile phone and Mac to sync and say hello whenever they are within Bluetooth range, which is about thirty feet.

What the Missing Sync for Symbian does is sync personal information like contacts, calendar tasks, and events, and also uses proprietary Call Log and SMS applications to move the phones call log and text messages to the Mac. Other stuff that can be synced is video, photo, music, and document files.

Overpriced iPhone Dock Connector from Ridax

by Techno Witch on July 31, 2008

Ridax, they make various Dock connectors for the iPhone has started taking pre-orders for its iPhone 3G Charge converter, which may be of interest to you as although the 30 pin Dock connector in the iPhone 3G looks the same as the 2G iPod is doesn?t actually support charging the old Firewire charging pin.

Looking at a report on ilounge, this means of course that there are a host of old charger and Docks that won?t work with the new iPhone 3G. However, this is where Ridax steps in with their new Dock connector, although the design is still being finished.

Hopefully other manufacturers of Dock connectors won?t take the same path as Ridax though and charge a huge $40.00 for two resistors and connectors as Ridax does.

So if you are that desperate or impatient enough to bung $40.00 on this dock connector you should be able to charge via the built-in mini-USB located on its side.

Slovak designer Matú? Procháczka came up with this concept for a car powered by magnets. The MAG would require all roads to be made out of giant magnets, which is something that would be very expensive and logistically difficult to implement. If the road did have the magnets then the magnetic force between the road and the magnets in the car would push the car up from the road and reduce the effective weight of the car by 50%. The car also has a polarized electric battery powered engine.

The concept car won the unseen technology award at the Interior motives design award for 2007.

I wonder how many people would want to drive around in a cross between a slipper and a high heeled shoe.

Celleden has launched their Bluetooth Anywhere Speakerphone, which can also be utilised as an in-car kit, in the United Kingdom, according to a report by Pocket-lint

The Bluetooth Anywhere Speakerphone is designed with a sleek aluminium finish while the speakerphone utilises dual microphone tech of which Celleden says it is a digital signal processor and will provide great clarity of sound wherever you are.

The Celleden Bluetooth Anywhere Speakerphone is compatible with any Bluetooth enabled device, which means it can connect with mobile phones, PDA?s and laptops to enable conference calls.

As a car kit it is said to make it easy to attach to the vehicles sun visor while voice activation means the driver can continue to drive safely without taking their eyes off the road.

An application for Symbian mobile phones that allows the user to actually send free text messages has been launched by internet call service Vyke Communications.

Vyke Communications application is called FreeTxt and is compatible with Symbian Series 60 mobile phones and will allow Vyke customer to send and receive free text messages to other Vyke customers and low rate texts to non-Vyke users.

According to a report on Mobile Today, Vyke?s FreeTxT app intercepts outgoing text messages and diverts them to Vyke?s server by the mobile phone?s Internet connection.

At a Silicon Valley roundtable discussion, mobile execs chatted about the Apple iPhone and its impact on mobile space, with some application developers being extremely please with Apple?s distribution model, according to a report on Macrumors.

Wintin the first six days, 350,000 installations onto the Apple iPhone of Pansora media?s free Radio app was recorded. Pandora plans on moneytising their iPhone application via ads in future.

Looking at it in contrast, Pandora, over the past eighteen months had only achieved 12,000 paid monthly subscriptions through every other mobile platform. So apparently Apple is the only provider, which allows developers to offer up free ad, supported apps.

Over the course of a week, Loopt and FaceBook has also seen a marked adoption with Loopt claiming the regular iPhone user is 47 times more active on their network than any other platform.

Nailed USB Flash Drive Lets Your PC Get Hammered

by Techno Witch on July 30, 2008

Novelty USB flash drives are dime a dozen, but this one really hits the nail on the head. Okay, I seriously apologize for the horrible puns, but I just couldn’t resist. At least I didn’t go with the other one about your computer getting nailed.

This Nailed USB Flash Drive is actually one of the more costly and pointless drives I’ve seen in a while. It doesn’t have any fancy design or crystals, it just looks like a nail. A 1GB drive is going to set you back almost $47. I think I’ll pass.

Sometime on Monday night the number of mobile applications at Apple?s App Store broke the 1000 mark with 1001 mobile applications available according to reports from fortune.cnn.com.

1001 available app is roughly double that of what was originally available when the App Store went live just two weeks ago.

Applications such as mobile games like Crash bandicoot, Monkey Ball and Texas Hold?em and popular, as are business tools such as Salesforce Mobile, and Bloomberg News. Then there is the social networking apps like MySpace, AIM and FaceBook.

Approximately twenty percent of the App Store applications are free at present with ninety percent costing around $10.00 or under.

Only Research In Motion BlackBerry has created a comparable platform for 3rd party apps, but with the BalckBerry lacking a touch-screen and accelerometer it applications simply can?t measure up to iPhone application.

On the 13th July, Apple release a press release announcing 10 million apps has been downloaded from their App Store in the first 3 days and by July 21st it had grown to 25 million.
