AT&T is having a few new pieces of mobile hardware showing up at their stores, although it isn?t exactly anything to write home about really.
AT&T now has the Samsung a237 or at least a dummy of the mobile handset and it?s not a bad low priced flip style mobile. They also have another Samsung device with a hidden front display but as yet unidentified, but no doubt we?ll find out sooner or later.

And then they have the recently released USBConnect Mercury, which is one of the prettiest looking data sticks that has come to market in a long while, and one thing is for sure the USBConnect Mercury is a darn sight more attractive than the USBConnect 881.

So if any of you kind souls over in the land of the free care to pop into your local AT&T store and identify the unidentified Samsung mobile phone, drop us a line and tell us about it.

There is no official word on this yet, but it looks as if Sony Ericssion has revamped some existing mobile phones and unveiled them in all new colours, some of which look quite cool.
Although I have said it before, and will probable say it again, when a company has no real new news on any relent releases what do they do? Why they push out a few old models wearing a shiny new coat.
It cleans up the models, gives the mobile phone user something else to choose from, and puts the company?s product back into the public eye, even if for only a short period.
Still, it makes the news I guess, so here?s what Sony Ericsson has colourized?the Sony Ericsson G502 in Celerity Red, Sony Ericsson W380 in pink, Sony Ericsson C702 in Energy Black, Sony Ericsson C902 in Cinnamon Bronze and Titanium Silver, Sony Ericsson W980 in Opera Brown and Violin Red, Sony Ericsson W350 in Turbo Red and Wisteria Purple, and the Sony Ericsson W910 in Lipstick Pink and Prime Silver.

Like I said, not official as yet.

There?s nothing quite like being the first to own an new mobile phone in your area, and a good way to become the first owner, if you have the spare cash, seems to be that ever increasing outlet for early mobile handsets, eBay.
eBay has a Research In Motion BlackBerry Kickstart 8220 smartphone up for auction, not only that but this BlackBerry Kickstart 8220 comes unlocked as well.

The BlackBerry Kickstart 8220 is the first clamshell BlackBerry from Research In Motion and is quad-band GSM, with a 2.6 inch QVGA display and 160 x 128 pixel external display, GPRS, 2 megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom and LED flash, Bluetooth 2.0, multimedia player MP3, AAC, MP4, 3GPP, 3.5mm audio jack and MicroSD slot and MicroUSB.
No stickers or anything saying it is a test model, but that doesn?t mean it isn?t, and at present its auction price is at $751.00 as of August 31st and the auction ends on September 3rd.

Over in Canada, after all the moans and groans about the Apple iPhone 3G rate plans and high costs, it seems that those same Canadians just aren?t bothered about using the Apple iPhone 3G to its full potential but preferring to use it mostly as a voice call machine.
According to Rogers Wireless on Thursday, 1.2 percent of Canadian iPhone 3G users devoured more than one gig of data in the first four weeks after the iPhone 3G went libe on July 11th.

One gig of data equates to roughly downloading a movie or 240 songs to the iPhone 3G.
Rogers say that 95 percent of their Apple iPhone 3G customers use less than 500MB of data which equates to about 110 songs, while 91 percent use 200MB.
Spokeswoman Liz Hamilton said: “They’re learning how it can be used. The folks who were first to buy, those are the early adopters, those are the tech savvy ones and what it says is that big data buckets actually let you do a lot of stuff.”

Oh dear, looks like Qualcomm has been a bad boy! Last year Qualcomm was banned from selling various 3G chips which infringed on Broadcom patents if you recall.
Well apparently Qualcomm obviously didn?t see the ban as an actual ban because they continued right on selling, actually they continued right up to the point where a judge decided Qualcomm were in contempt for violation the injunction.
The resulting decision means Qualcomm has been ordered to fork over gross profits from the sales of their QChat push-to-talk to Broadcom?ouch!
The court gave Qualcomm 30 days grace to work out just how much they own Broadcom; Sprint forked over $93 million to use the technology since last December.
So one can assume quite safely that this little episode is going to cost Qualcomm more than a few peanuts. However, Qualcomm is planning on staging an appeal, so this could be yet another long drawn out battle.

After negotiations it appears that China Mobile and Apple have decided to rely on the price subsidisation system to bring the Apple iPhone 3G to the people of China according to an insider at China Mobile.
Apple and China Mobile are now close to finalising talks that should avoid passing on relatively high costs of the iPhone 3G to Chinese consumers by using the same type of system adopted by AT&T.

This new plan agreement is intended to replace the revenue sharing system which came to a stalemate during earlier talks between Apple and China Mobile.
So it looks as if the Apple iPhone 3G will soon be on its way to the Chinese market, and then maybe some of these iPhone rip-offs we have been seeing will eventually fade into history; that is until the next hyped mobile phone hits the net waves.

The Motorola Z10, billed as a ?pocket-sized mobile studio,? that sports an innovative design which bends when opened, simple hardware that breaks on purpose!
The Z10 from Motorola is a 4 ounce platinum trimmed that sports a stylish bendy design, but in reality doesn?t actually offer the user a great deal else.

One would have thought if someone like Motorola is going to come up with a flashy design, they would at least put in a few tempting features to make the phone every more desirable, but no.
What does the Motorola Z10 have to offer? Well, a 5 megapixel camera with intuitive editing suite, 2.2 inch screen which isn?t ideal for viewing videos really, Symbian UIQ, lowly 1GB microsSD.
Had Motorola actually spent a quarter of the time on making the software features for the Z10 as innovative as this break-away hardware then maybe the Motorola Z10 could have been quite a wow factor. Unfortunately they didn?t, and at $500.00, the Z10 doesn?t really come up to scratch.
