According to TmoNews, T-Mobile will be picking up the Motorola MOTOACTV W450 sometime in early September, TmoNews is confident it will be the 3rd Sept.

So what does the Motorola MOTOACTV W450 mobile handset offer prospective T-Mobile customers, well not a great deal apparently other than some water resistance?

The Motorola MOTOACTV W450 should come with a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, media support with microSD slot, and really that is about all one can expect.

Motorola has been struggling for some time now and to be honest, shoving out something like the Motorola MOTOACTV W450 doesn?t bode well for their future, especially with that putrid yellow keyboard.
Has Motorola given up in the mobile design stakes, if not then maybe they should, or at least consider looking at designing something far better.

Price tag for this un-provoking yellow mobile is set to be $30.00 to $50.00 so they say.

Most are aware that the Apple iPhone 3G battery life is somewhat dismal, and if you really want to make it drain there?s nothing quite like blasting out a loudspeaker.

But I guess if there is one place to have a loudspeaker it is integrated into the battery pack, which then obviously connects to the Apple iPhone or Apple iPhone 3G whichever is your preferred choice.

Which is what Brando?s iPower Portable Power Station with Speaker for iPhone 3G/2G is, and a few specs are: charging time is 3 hours; discharging to iPhone is 3 hours; 2400mAh capacity; 1.5watt amplifier speaker, weight 93 grams.

The Brando iPower Portable Power Station with Speaker supports both first generation iPhone and the second generation iPhone 3G and is available in black or white with a price tag of $44.00 from Brando.

Security flaw allows bypass of Apple iPhone lock

by Techno Witch on August 28, 2008

Just how well is your Apple iPhone protected against data bandits? Well a four digit code isn?t that much of a deterrent to an ardent mobile phone hacker, and that is all the Apple iPhone affords.

Agreed the iPhone will lock up after a few attempts, but if the hacker is someone who knows you and say your code is your birth date or even the end digits of your phone number, they will easily pass the lock down system.

But apparently that doesn?t matter anyway because 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 both have been confirmed to allow you around the passcode lock just by hitting Emergency Call and then double hitting the home button.

Doing so will give access to Favourites and from there they can click an arrow which allows the use of links within contacts to get to the SMS, Safair apps, and Maps.

To disable this you need to change the home button functionality from default Favs to Home. Once done nothing will happen at the Emergence Call screen and your iPhone will be safe from sneaking eyes.

Nokia has extended recognition to the initial group of mobile application developers in Nokia?s 2008 Forum Nokia Innovations Series program which has been designed to give select small to mid sized developers with key business and market support in the mobile arena.

?The first eight developers recognized in the 2008 Forum Nokia Innovation Series cleared multiple selection hurdles over the course of the past year as part of the selection process, which included internal Nokia reviews and the screening of application features and functionality by consumer focus groups around the world.?

?Each participant in the 2008 Forum Nokia Innovation Series was required to demonstrate that their application or service provided specific benefits to Nokia mobile device users not otherwise available, and that a clear market demand existed for such a solution.?

As part of the program, the 2008 Forum Nokia Innovation Series applications and solutions are showcased in video demonstrations created by Forum Nokia and hosted online at Share on Ovi?

Blackberry Storm 9530 out soon on Verizon

by Techno Witch on August 28, 2008

Here we have it! The box for the new Blackberry Storm 9530 for Verizon, where is the phone I hear you ask, well, we have to wait for that for now this is all we have, but it will give all the Blackberry fans on Verizon a preview of what they can expect, so if you are jealous of the Blackberry Bold you need not be anymore, in a few weeks time the Blackberry Storm 9530 could be yours.

Looking at the box more closely it seems it could be RIM?s first venture into the world of touchscreen with the Storm 9530; it includes a SIM card which suggests it will be global, plus an 8GB SanDisk mircoSD card which will be preinstalled.

So, all the talk about the Blackberry being called a Thunder pie in the sky? Apparently not, it seems that this name is being saved for the Blackberry launch on Rogers in Canada as well as Vodafone across the pond.

So we will have to wait and see if this is true, we will also post photos of the Storm 9530 the minute we see sight of them.

iPhone Developers continue to be gagged by Apple

by Techno Witch on August 28, 2008

As we know, the Apple iPhone 3G SDK binds iPhone developers not to discuss the process for creating programs for the Apple iPhone; these legal restrictions are usually lifted once the product launches, and that is where Apple is different, and apparently won?t say why.

Which results in the developers and businesses that cater for Apple virtually under a gag order, and they say they are prohibited from answering tech questions or sharing tips in public.

Apparently conference organisers are working on how to plan sessions of iPhone software developers when they can?t speak about the Apple iPhone software, and book publishers are holding on how to magazines in fear they may get sued by Apple.

A developer for Banterability, Jeffrey Long, who is working on a satellite radio program for the iPhone says: “We can’t talk about our problems. At the same time, we can’t talk about the problems we’ve fixed.”

Isn?t it about time Apple dropped all this cloak and dagger rubbish and let the developers do what they do without hindrance, once their job is done and out there what difference does it make?

3G speed survey shows AT&T 3rd weakest network

by Techno Witch on August 28, 2008

The big question at the moment is what is to blame for the 3G data speed drops, hardware, firmware, software, or networks? Well it is slowly becoming evident that it isn?t the Apple iPhone 3G hardware as data is pointing towards the wireless networks themselves as being the cause.

The latest news from Wired?s global iPhone 3G data speed survey makes for some quite interesting interpretation on the subject.

The survey data shows the iPhone 3G works best in countries with fully mature 3G infrastructure which is capable of giving 3G data as faster than US speeds while showing that it is likely the US 3G infrastructure is most likely to be at blame for the failure of the Apple iPhone 3G,s problems

As it stands, according to the survey T-Mobile Europe serves up the fastest 3G; Canadian Rogers and Fido come in second fastest 3G; while US AT&T along with Telstra, Telia, and Softbank coming in third; and Australia Optus and Virgin coming in the slowest.

On a final note: in the supposedly 3G-rich area of San Francisco 10 out of 30 participants in the survey reported very low 3G speed barely surpassing EDGE.
