Ok all you 3 customers out there in mobile phone land, get prepared to see your phone bills rise as 3 stop charge for calls by the second and start rounding up to a full minute.
Another hit to the customer?s pocket is the introduction by 3 of a £4.00 monthly surcharge on customers who do not wish for whatever reason to pay their bill via direct debit.
Another hit comes with 3 charging £1.00 per month for those customers who want an itemised paper bill rather than a net based version from the My3 portal.
3 will initiate all these new charges on the 23rd of September.
A 3 spokesperson stated: ?Every business looks at its cost base and how best it can balance the need to fund its operations and serve its customers.?
While on the subject of paper bill charging they replied: ?Half of our customers already use [electronic bills] and use it regularly to get an up-to-the-minute view of their spending. With very little promotion from ourselves, hundreds of thousands of our customers have already selected e-bills as a matter of preference.?

With a slogan like “not for hardcore techies” on the box the new Peek email device has its audience at the ready, as it really is just a device strictly for sending and receiving emails, and that?s it, no fancy extra?s so if you are one of those people who have a mobile and really only know how to push answer then if you wanted to start receiving emails on the move then maybe the Peek is the device for you?
If you have had the chance to play with the Peek you will notice that it takes a little longer to open up a new message window than the blackberry which is known as the master of email on the move, but the user interface is fantastically simple, you will find sending messages a breeze if you not really technically savvy.

As for the look of the Peek well according to Peek CEO Amol Sarva the Peek is 30 percent thinner than the iPhone, so can easily slip into your pocket or handbag. We give it 10 out of 10 for feel-appeal with its spacious rubber keyboard.
So if you want to go and get one of these nifty email gadgets what is it going to cost you? Well for £99 you will get the Peek which supports POP and IMAP accounts and most other accounts to including Gmail and Yahoo. The downside of the Peek is that it doesn?t support Office Documents such as excel or Word, bet hey if you have only just got your head round answer and reject then I don?t think this will matter to you, it does support images though, so all good there.
T-mobile provides the data connectivity for the Peek priced at $19.95 per month and without a contract. You can pick up your Peek from Target store starting September 15 in 3 great colours Cherry, black or Aqua. If you can wait until September 15, then if you go online at GetPeek.com next week and get you?re Peek there.

UTStarcom made Verizon XV6800 is going to see a Windows Mobile 6.1 update just as AT&T?s Tilt also know as the HTC TyTN II did earlier.
Well that?s the good news, but there?s also a bit of bad news as Verizon will be keeping a lock on some of the Windows Mobile 6.1 functionalities.

Which means unfortunately, even with this update, if the user needs to use any location based service they will have to rely on Verizon?s VZ Navigator.
Other 3rd -party just simply won?t work unless of course you are prepared to step beyond that which is officially permitted and simply heck into the smartphone.
Anyway gaining the Windows Mobile 6.1 update is still worth it even with Verizon slapping the breaks on the navigation, as you will no doubt end up with a more stable mobile phone, much better web browser along with so much more.

A report in The Guardian states that a television advertisement for the Apple iPhone has been banned by the UK Advertising Standards Authority due to receiving complaint that the advert was misleading.
This TV ad, which can now be viewed here, claims ?all the parts of the internet are on the iPhone.?

Complains were made to the UK Advertising Standards Authority pointing out that the Apple iPhone does not support Flash or Java that could be required to use some websites, which lead the UK Advertising Standards Authority to conclude “the ad gave a misleading impression of the internet capabilities of the iPhone”.
Apparently, Apple actually responded for once and said that the purpose of the advert was to point out the iPhone?s ability to access standard websites, and that it could not ensure compatibility with “every third-party technology in the marketplace”.
Which of course means the Apple iPhone doesn?t have all the parts of the internet, doesn?t it. So therefore the UK Advertising Standards Authority is right in banning the advert.

It appears that Orange are being somewhat naughty as according to France Info, Orange has been artificially limiting data speed to a fraction of the 3G potential on the Apple iPhone 3G.
The report by France Info states that iPhone data speeds have been arbitrarily limited to 384kbps.
If this report is true it goes a long way to explaining why users have been experiencing low data rates in the Apple iPhone 3G and other general HSDPA capable handsets.
Apparently the France Info story says Orange will be increasing the maximum speed to 1bps as of the 15th September and that Apple iPhone 3G users will not need to do anything to gain the extra speed.
Well, increasing to 1Mbps as of the 15th September is all well and good but why limit it to 384kbps in the first place? Seems like Orange are not beyond deceiving their customers, as we have already seen in India with the fake launch lines- (see here)
Come on Orange, get your act together and respect your customers, don?t deceive them.
