The service should be available early next year and is causing excitement for existing players as well as new entrants, the new wireless environment is seems to be good news for everyone.

There is massive scope for the DVBH-Digital Video Broadcasting on Handheld, and mobile operators with an enhanced band will enhance services like real-time video casting of functions, event and parties. WiMax can be used for a number of applications including hotspots, cellular backhaul, fixed mobile, mobile, high speed enterprise connectivity and mile Broadband services.

by Techno Witch on September 19, 2008

The European Union has lifted restrictions for airline mobile phone use, thus opening the door for passengers to soon use their Blackberries and other smartphones during flight.

However over in the States, flights in the US and connecting to the US, mobile phone calls which have already been banned may well be outlawed by the Hang Up Act which is now up for vote before the House.

Providers of airplane mobile phone services travelled to Washington D.C. this week to try and get lawmakers to knock the bill down. According to OnAir and AeroMobile, say the FCC and FAA already have a ban in place so a law would be overkill.

iPhone 3G Hidden Matrix: What does it mean?

by Techno Witch on September 19, 2008

Australian Whirlpool forums member fsjk85 decided to have a play around with his camcorder?s NightShot function, when he just happened to stumble over something that is quite interesting.

fsjk85 discovered a hidden matrix code on the left hand side of the Apple iPhone 3G handset.

So what does this hidden Apple iPhone 3G matrix mean? Well we?re just guessing that this is where Apple imprints the serial number and IMEI numbers pertaining to each individual iPhone 3G handset.

However, it is possible we are wrong in our assumption, but can you come up with a better answer?

The Nokia 6220 classic carried some serious camera power with its 5 mexapixel camera with Xenon flash, active lens cover; VGA video at 30 frames per second along with TV-out does make the Nokia 6220 classic an attractive option for the imaging fans out there.

The Nokia 6220 classic has one of the most compact bodies on Symbian, a true Symbian all-rounder that features HSDPA, GPS and feature pack 2.

Virtually no other mobile phone packing similar features can beat the Nokia 6220 classic, it does have a week area though via the lack of WiFi, which can break a deal, but the 6220 classic does have an attractive price tag of approximately 260EUR which is roughly $380 US.

The Windows Mobile ROM is faster and switches portrait and landscape modes in what seems like milliseconds while the panel starts much faster than previously as well. This first build incorporates Opera Mobile 9.5, which Sony Ericsson decided to switch over to at the last minute for some reason.

There is a video of the X1 that can be viewed by following the source.

Multiple options open for Sprint iDEN network

by Techno Witch on September 19, 2008

On Tuesday, Sprint Nextel Corp pushed aside market concerns that the Corp was suffering difficulties selling its iDEN wireless network, and Sprint Nextel Corp stated it had multiple options.

Dan Hesse, Sprint?s Chief Executive, spoke to a Goldman Sachs conference, saying: “We don’t have to do this. If we get an offer that’s compelling and delivering and all sorts of other things, we’ll absolutely consider it. If we don’t, we’ll hold on to it. It’s a valuable asset.”

Sprint has been looking at selling the iDEN network, which is an asset purchased via the acquisition of Nextel back in 05, however it has struggled to integrate iDEN, and some analysts have questioned if the purchase was a good idea.
