LumiGram Bed Cover

by Techno Witch on April 30, 2009

luminexThis next product is for those who want one of those ?sexy? bedrooms. You know, the type with the silk sheets, the bearskin rugs and the tiger and leopard print blankets.

Yeah, the Luminex Fiber Optic Bed Covers would make a lovely edition to a ?love bedroom?. Who wouldn?t be dazzled by bed covers that glow in the dark? Now all that is missing is the Barry White music. ?Ooh baby baby, your love?s so good it makes the sheets glow?.

The glow effect is produced by fiber optics sewn directly into the covers themselves, and it has to be plugged into the wall for power. In case you are wondering, this doesn?t work as an electric blanket in the sense that it raises the temperature.

As for how to wash these covers, I believe they are hand washable with natural soap. It doesn?t look like you have to worry about getting these bed covers wet. So if you or your partner spill the champagne, no problem!

You realize that this lightshow will cost you. A 63 x 78.8 inch (160 x 200 cm) cover costs about $660. Yeah, I probably wouldn?t spend that much on my whole honeymoon, and a honeymoon suite is where these sheets belong.

By the way, what is that thing to the left of the pillow in this picture? Is it someone?s leg, or is my imagination playing tricks on me?

New GE Breakthrough: 100 DVDs on 1 Disc!

by Techno Witch on April 30, 2009

bd-dvd-hybridOkay, here?s a quick question: how many DVDs do you own? If you have less than 100, then there is now a way to put them all onto one disc.

It would appear that General Electric is the one who is responsible for this technological breakthrough. The company who has been ?bringing good things to life? have used holograms to make this good thing a reality.

This could eventually lead to micro-holographic players that could play CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and these cool holographic discs. These discs could hold 500 GB of memory, and it is possible to produce these holographic discs at 10 cents per gigabyte. That is a lot cheaper than the $1 a gigabyte for a 25 gigabyte disc.

As I said before, these micro-holograms can create a capacity of putting 100 average DVDs on one disc, and it is possible to put 20 Blu-rays discs on one. These jam-packed holographic discs will come in handy when it comes to high resolution formats like 3-D television, which is getting bigger everyday.

I hope that the Research and Development at GE are celebrating the six years of work to make this revolutionary technology. Of course, it will probably take a while before the consumer can get their hands on it, and even longer before it is cheap.

Spread Tweet: An Excel-ed Twitter

by Techno Witch on April 30, 2009

spreadtweeterI almost feel bad for reporting on this next product, as it is one of those that encourages a double-life. This is for all of those people out there who are addicted to Twitter, but have bosses who don?t approve of any personal use of computers on ?company time?.

Yeah, as if any company can own time! On second thought, I highly endorse this product, because I know what it is like to work for ?The Man?. The last time I was working for ?The Man?, twitter hadn?t been invented yet, but I?m certain that he would have never let me do that.

However, if I had Spread Tweet, my Twitter life would appear on my monitor like an ordinary spreadsheet. As long as my boss didn?t look too closely, then he or she would be none the wiser.

I suppose the real question is ?how long can this fool the boss?? What if you have to walk away from the computer, and you get back to find de Boss looking a little too closely at the Spread Tweet.

You might want to have an explanation prepared for when that happens. In fact, that might be a good disclaimer for the site. As far as I know, Spread Tweet is only available here.

We have reported all the specs and details we know so far on both the Palm Pre and the new Apple iPhone, and hopefully given our readers some insight in what they can expect.

We can expect more advanced technology as both smartphones go head to head, we can expect claims of which one is best and be given numerous reason as to why. We can expect the new Apple iPhone to hit in June if it goes the same way as previous iPhones, and we can expect that one day the Palm Pre will eventually see a release.

There has been an abundance of rumours over these two smartphones, and one thing we can expect is there will no doubt be a battle between the two for supremacy in the smartphone arena.

Any expectations on the Palm Pre and new Apple iPhone?

James.

Hmm, okay it appears that Motorola is moving towards Android in more handsets than the previously reported Motorola IRONMAN, as now BGR has it that the Motorola Calgary will be the first Motorola Android platform smartphone.

Spec wise the Motorola Calgary will more than likely pack a capacitance touch screen with what looks to be a laser etched style QWERTY keyboard much like Motorola?s RAZR keyboards, and according to the report will carry the Android operating system.

Leaked mockups look to the Motorola Calgary headed for Verizon Wireless, and that?s about all that is know for now, but as always when we know more we?ll pass it along.

Latest rumour on Android packing smartphones comes via BGR as they are reporting that Motorola?s smartphone codenamed ?IRONMAN? may well pack the Android operating system.

Further rumour has it that the Motorola IRONMAN Android will drop at the end of the 3rd quarter, although there is obviously no confirmation on that.

Spec wise, well as you can imagine there isn?t much known yet, but word has it that the Android sporting Motorola IRONMAN will carry virtually every feature going such as WiFi, 3G, high-red camera and the like. Other than that it?s all speculation and rumour so we?ll have to keep an eye on this one.

Nokia N97 details fully revealed at last

by Techno Witch on April 30, 2009

Forum Nokia has released the remainder of the technical details on the Nokia N97, and you can find the full specs here.

Details on the Nokia N97 have been rather cursory in the past, but with the new details there are a few snippets that may be of concern to devs and potential buyers of the Nokia N97.

The Nokia N97 processor is actually a single core ARM 11 at 434MHz which is a step up but when you consider handsets such as the Samsung i8910 sports a 600MHz ARM Cortex-A8 is sort of leaves the Nokia N97 lacking.
