Apple iPhone sales may suffer if AT&T strike

by Techno Witch on April 20, 2009

The word is, ongoing negotiations between AT&T and the Communications Workers of America have halted with a result of nothing definite on what to expect, so America could well be facing the largest strike since 1997.

Talks have taken a downturn as AT&T threaten to take an axe to employee healthcare, and the union didn?t like the new contract proposal and is preparing its 90,000 strong workforce for strike action according to a post on mp3newswire

As AT&T have an exclusivity deal with Apple for the Apple iPhone, if this strike happens Apple iPhone services could well be in serious trouble, and if the strike goes on for an extended amount of time many customers could begin to look elsewhere, and simple put, Apple could only sit back and watch as the strike action hampers iPhone sales.

According to UnwiredView, both Vodafone Portugal and Orange France have launched ?TV on the Go? services for the Apple iPhone.

Vodafone Portugal has named their application for the Apple iPhone ?Vodafone Mobile TV? while Orange France has named theirs ?TV from Orange.?

?Vodafone Mobile TV? is a free application from the Portugal App Store and offers Fast Channel Switching which tries to make Apple iPhone TV viewing just like normal TV.

?TV from Orange,? offers their app as pay-as-you-go or on a monthly plan and streams up to 60 TV channels with a range of French channels to worldwide channels on the Apple iPhone

Samsung patent to freshen up mobile phones

by Techno Witch on April 20, 2009

Looks like Samsung is looking towards pushing out some aroma mobile handsets in the future, as according to cellpassion, Samsung’s latest patent application is for a fragrance strip embedded into the mobile handset.

Basically Samsung wants to embed a smelly strip into the slider mechanism of a slide handset and/or the hinge of their clamshell form factor handsets and thus every time a user opens their handset friction put against the fragrance strip will release the smell.

There?s nothing about whether the user will be able to replace the strip once it runs out of smelliness though.

by Techno Witch on April 19, 2009

Well now, according to electronista, we may just be getting Windows Mobile 6.5 a little earlier than first expected as the word is that Windows Mobile 6.5 is to launch on May the 11th.

Of course the May 11th date also coincides with Microsoft?s TechEd 2009 conference, so no doubt we will be seeing Windows Mobile 6.5 being demoed there.

The thing is even when Windows Mobile 6.5 is officially launched it will still be up to the carriers and mobile handset manufacturers as to just when the public will finally see Windows Mobile 6.5 loaded onto mobile devices,
