Apple has now given access to a special version of the Associated Press application to registered iPhone developers so they can test iPhones running iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5 with the instructions to let Apple know if they don?t receive notifications within 48 hours.

So Apple wants to know if the push notifications are working and what better way to find out than from developers, and make sure everything is running smoothly according to theiphoneblog

Developers: Do you like iPhone OS 3.0 beta Apple Push Notification service?

So what we?d like to know is if iPhone developers are actually pleased and happy with iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5 and if they like Apple Push Notification Service? So iPhone developers feel free to drop us a comment in the comment area below.

So Best Buy purchases Napster for $121 million last year, and because Napster doesn?t work on the iPhone and iPod Best Buy comes up with a solution which is to bend the music subscription in a way that it gets along with the iPhone and iPod according to an article found on wired.com.

A new Napster subscription has launched which allows any user to stream any of Napster?s 7 million tunes to their computer for only $5 per month, and apparently to bridge the gap to the iPhone and iPod, subscribers gain up to 5 free downloads per month.

So if this Napster $5 per month subscription actually includes an application for the iPhone it could well become quite popular. Chris Gorog, CEO of Napster has implied that Napster is looking into the possibility.

Possibility of New Apple iPhone Pro

by Techno Witch on May 19, 2009

The mere mention of a new iPhone and the rumours run rife, and i4u speculates that there is a possibility of an ?iPhone Pro? in the making.

We all know the time is right of a new iPhone, one that is cooler than the iPhone 3G and Apple already offers choice within their product line such as the MacBook and MacBook Pro, so it is logical Apple would take the same line with the iPhone.

Rumours have it that Apple is thinking of more than one model of the iPhone, and speculation points to possibly evidence that several new iPhone models are coming, which sets the question of will we see an iPhone Pro amongst those new iPhones?

So just how is Apple going to keep the iPhone ahead of the game in the smartphone wars? Well according to an article on internet news, Apple will be expanding internationally, packing in software that has a ?wow factor,? adding further functionality, and lowering prices.

Apparently this info comes via Oppenheimer & Co analyst, Yair Reiner, who told them this is what top Apple execs told him in a recent meeting, although Apple was as usual tight-lipped on any real details.

One thing Apple did say though was any iPhone they put out there would be a software centric device. Therefore, Reiner interprets this as any future iPhones will incorporate comprehensive features sets.

Apparently the Palm Pre is to launch on the 6th of June according to notebooks.com; they base this assumption after seeing a Sprint advertisement featuring a countdown timer to the 6th of June, so thus believe this date is official.

Furthermore they believe the advert will probably point to the Sprint Now Network Pre landing page, and the countdown timer is identical to that of many other found on the Sprint nationwide Now Network website and advertisements.

Although there is mention of the Palm Pre actually launching today as my colleague posted earlier, to which end we are running a Palm Pre poll on whether you believe the Palm Pre will launch today or not, so nip over there and get in your vote.

Apparently and according to ComputerWorld blogs the Palm Pre will be launching today (May 19), Sprint Stores are already receiving the Palm Pre which is a definite sign it is releasing pretty soon.

Palm and Sprint will be officially announcing the Pre and indeed the price today according to reports, we all know that at the moment this is speculation and we will be bringing all the latest news as soon as we receive it.

Is this really true about the Pre launch releasing tomorrow, or is it going to be in June like we all suspect. Today we will be bringing you more news about the Palm Pre which should excite you. Answer the Poll question below.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

According to an article on itnews, McAfee, the security software people is preparing to expand their software offering to Apple and the Apple iPhone.

McAfee Chief Exec, David DeWalt has said in an interview in New York?”We are working on a much more comprehensive suite for the Apple family. Through the course of 2009, we’ll have a lot more technology for them.”

However, DeWalt did not specify any set date for new McAfee security software to launch for the Apple iPhone, nor did he say which products would be supplied to the iPhone. But he did confirm that user?s of the iPhone; tend to use a wide range of applications.

As we know, the new Apple iPhone will be out at some stage and so will the Palm Pre, well eventually anyway, but your guess is as good as mine as to when the Palm pre will actually see release.

The thing is we have been comparing the new iPhone to the Palm Pre, yet really neither smartphone is out to actually give a fair comparison to so it is hardly a fair comparison.

There have been posts on the new iPhone vs. Palm Pre ever since both smartphone where first spoke about. But the thing is how can one really give a true comparison without both handsets being out for public use?

So, readers, Should we really compare new iPhone and Palm Pre together?

Wal-Mart will sell Palm Pre as well?

by Techno Witch on May 18, 2009

According to an article on the Wall Street Journal, Wal-Mart is gearing up to revamp their consumer electronics departments to make room for featuring a wider selection of products from such brands as Apple and Nintendo.

Apparently a Wal-Mart rep told the MSJ that the move is supposed to maximise Wal-Mart?s share of Circuit City business and new departments will carry high end products as well as Blu-ray Disc players.

All well and good; however, the WSJ has also reported that contrary to earlier reports that Best Buy will have exclusivity with the Palm Pre, Wal-Mart will also carry the Sprint branded Palm Pre.

It appears that Research In Motion is becoming a little protective over their Blackberry Storm 2 as the guys over at CrackBerry had a few images of the rumours BlackBerry Storm 2 up on their website.

But it appears RIM has taken umbrage over this and has demanded that the images be removed, which seems to me to be a little over the top.

What would happen if every phone review website turned round and completely ignored the BlackBerry Storm 2 when RIM wants it advertised as much as possible? RIM may not like it but review sites bring a great deal of notice to mobile phones such as the BlackBerry Storm 2, so maybe they should think twice before demanding the removal of images.

What do you think readers?
