Apparently, the idea of creating such a tablet came after evaluating the results of a market research, in which Toshiba has found that most users do not take the tablet with them when they leave their homes. For them, the presence of a larger screen and a higher resolution may be more important than any compromise made in terms of portability.
For this, Toshiba has equipped Excite 13 tablet with a 13 inch HD screen, LED lighting and perfect for 16:9 cinema films. The 1600×900 pixels resolution might prove useful for social networking fans, the extra 100 pixels easing the viewing of pages in portrait mode.
The operating system is Android Ice Cream Sandwich, running on a hardware chip Tegra 3 – strong enough not to pose problems when playing movies in Full HD resolution.
Along with the 13.3-inch tablet, Toshiba also offers Excite 7.7 model, respectively Excite 10.
All tablets are equipped with stereo speakers, memory card slot, a 5 megapixel camera for photos, respectively a 2 MP resolution front camera for video calls.
Toshiba Excite 10 has a 10.1 inch TFT screen with a 1280×800 pixels resolution, but Excite 7.7 adopted AMOLED technology for even better quality images. All three tablets have Gorilla Glass system for the protection of the screen and capacitive multitouch interface.
Toshiba Excite 7.7 has 10 hours autonomy and Excite 10 and Excite13 versions enjoy 13 hours mobility.
Toshiba Excite 10 tablet is expected in stores starting with May 6, when the version equipped with 16GB internal memory can be purchased at a suggested retail price of $ 450.
Toshiba Excite 13 and Excite 7.7 will be released on June 10, with prices of $ 650 and $ 500.
