HTC One XL, the new flagship of HTC was officially announced and is expected on European shelves in early June.
Observed for the first time at MWC 2012, HTC One XL is presented with a 4.7 inch Super LCD2 screen protected by Gorilla Glass and able to show 720p HD resolution images. Under the 8.9 mm thick cover and weighing 129 grams, One XL holds a dual-core Qualcomm Series S4 chipset, clocked at 1.5 GHz.
On the back we can find a camera of 8 MP with BSI (backside illuminated) sensor and lens group with F2.0 aperture. It can shoot in Full HD and get the pictures without interrupting shooting. There is also the continuous shooting function through which we can get more shots in rapid succession with one press of the shutter button. Another very nice feature is the video stabilization feature, which should limit the too rapid movements from the sequences we shoot. In front we can find a second camera of 1.3 MP resolutions that can be used in video calls or the Face Unlock function implemented by Android 4.0 for the Lock Screen menu.
Besides the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, One XL delights us with a Sense 4.0 interface, customized by HTC to highlight the 4.7-inch HD screen.
As appropriate for a top smartphone, HTC One XL comes in a plastic housing with polycarbonate unibody design, similar to that used for HTC X model. The facilities list also includes a MHL-HDMI port, audio system certified Audio Beats, NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, 3G and WiFi N dual-band (2.4 and 5 GHz). The latter can be used for connections to DLNA compatible devices.
HTC One XL hides under the back cover a Li-Ion battery of 1800 mAh and a micro-card slot. Unfortunately, microSD card slot is missing, so you will need to be satisfied with the 32 GB internal memory offered by the manufacturer.
Initially expected in Germany in early June, HTC One XL will be available in white housing version for 699 euro or 659 euro for those who prefer the classic version in black.
