href="http://www.megawoot.com/tag/ces-2012" target="_blank">CES 2012 the Linux enthusiasts. As an alternative to other smart TVs, the device powered by Canonical runs this new operating system, offering a lot of features.

The Ubuntu version especially designed for TVs is similar to Google TV and will be able to be updated later through WiFi. Offering support for DVR functionalities, including movies, music, TV broadcasting and YouTube player integrated, Ubuntu TV is the open-source platform optimized for TVs of Ubuntu OS. Canonical is now working on improving Ubuntu TV and wants it to reach all the TV manufacturers, this being the first major step in the company’s intentions to overcome the barriers of a PC or laptop case.

The smart TV model presented at CES 2012 has impressed with the menu’s fluidity and the pre-installed applications, one of them offering direct access to YouTube content. Like its competitors, Ubuntu TV offers the possibility of searching and recording video content.

Ubuntu TV will come on the market only after Canonical will refine the software, now considered unfinished, despite the very good functionality of the model brought at CES.
<p

It employs an integral imaging system (a ?light field? display) to reproduce a real object as a 3D image that can be viewed without glasses over a wide range of viewing angles. It also features a multi-parallax design that enables motion parallax, which cannot be achieved by systems using glasses. The multi-parallax approach results in images that change depending on the viewer?s position.

The display can be used in a vertical or horizontal position. When used in the vertical position, the user faces the upright screen from the front as a person would usually use a 2D monitor. However, when used in the horizontal position, the user overlooks the stereoscopic image formed by the display lying face-up, as one would overlook a relief model. Compared with the front view, the 3D images seen face-up from the bird?s eye view are more stereoscopic and realistic.
<p

The app enables you to preview content currently airing and directly select a main station or multicast channel stream, in addition to bookmark your favorite stations and multicast channels. An iTunes Tagging button on the Gigaware navigation accessory also allows to “tag” songs for future review and purchase via iTunes. It gives you access to more than 2,000 HD Radio stations on the air, and 1,000+ new FM multicast channels (HD2/HD3).
<p
